Managing Procrastination

Procrastination Station

 ISSUE #10

I can fondly remember having a blast playing video games with my friends and neighbors growing up. Once the school day was over, heading home and spending all hours of the afternoon gaming, reading and doing anything other than assignments that were suppose to be completed for homework. Until, about 10 pm… then it was crunch time.. get the work done before bed.

There is a saying I heard once “Pressure makes diamond or dust”, which resonated with me. I was able to think back to all the times I procrastinated and had to grind out work at the 11th hour and hope for the best. As I got older I began to realize how much of a gamble that was. Soon I was teaching myself concepts of delayed gratification, priorities, time management and more which helped pave a path to reducing LOADS of stress on myself. This would also come to play more recently when I began investing because procrastination leads to sloppy diligence and allows for poor stock selection or “holding the bag scenarios”.

Thinking about how to use time wisely especially free time is essential. Understanding how to make your free time work for you can greatly increase the chances of finding wild success or meeting your goals more efficiently.

I would like to include in this newsletter an awesome opportunity. I am partnering with @WealthTrap to share his guide on how to navigate the space of Opinion Based Market Research Surveys. You can pick up a copy of this guide by clicking here. This guide is phenomenal for anyone who is a beginner in the survey space. Who wouldn’t want to make a little extra cash using your free time if you qualify for a survey! What an incredible way to beat procrastination.

This week I want to know what is one task that you constantly put off either presently or in the past.

Reach out to me on X (@DividendRoots) and let me know about your response, I would love to hear your responses.

You can always reach out to me through email ([email protected]) or through X or Twitter @DividendRoots… I don’t know what to call it…

Overall Comments: I cleaned out my portfolio for this month. One of my goals this year was to do no selling except for 2 emergency and 1 casual day of selling. So in January I used my casual day of selling to prep myself for the rest of the year. I redistributed the rest of the money from those sells throughout the portfolio.

X HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

This section is dedicated to a X member who offers meaningful, thought provoking finance, educational, content while maintaining a positive attitude and supporting members of the community. I suggest giving them a follow and checking them out

X Profile Spotlight :

The spotlight for this week is awarded to @thewealthtrap. This individual has become a very good friend of mine! Even though we are in different countries he has always shown support and interest in my journey! From when I dabbled in options as well as new endeavors taking surveys and more, Wealth Trap is always ready to have a discussion about it. Recently he has begun to take more of an active effort to post more content on X which is awesome because he is great simplifying topics and posting meaningful thought provoking questions!

I reached out to Wealth Trap and asked him “how do you find ways to fight off procrastinationHe responded with

“When I find myself procrastinating, I will make a to do list on the various projects that I have been putting off because I find seeing the list in front of me helps hold myself accountable and help me realize that the tasks really aren't as intimidating as I am making them out to be. Then I will organize that list in terms of how much time each task will take, and then I tackle one project at a time. As you start with the smallest tasks first, you build up momentum and get satisfaction of completing the next thing, and it motivates you to start working on the next project. This is one of the ways I have found works best for me to fight procrastination.”

Wealth Trap shows a great way to handle procrastination by making a list to help hold him accountable. I have also seen people make calendars with tons of reminders to help ensure they are on task. What are some ways you handle procrastination?
