 ISSUE #8

Happy New Year!

Welcome Back! Thank you for coming back to read through another issue of the Nourish Your Roots Newsletter.

I hope the holidays were filled with joy, relaxation, making of new memories, time with family and more!

After this month off, a lot has happened so let us dive right into it!

First and a major change was I switched Brokerages from Charles Schwab over to Fidelity. This was done for a few reasons but a glaring one was due to Schwab not having easy to access fractional shares, as well ZERO fractional shares for ETFs (exchange traded funds) but Fidelity did offer this option. While learning a new platform brokerage has been interesting I feel more confident in the direction I am heading. Another reason was I have started to take a much larger role in managing my personal finance. I moved my ROTH IRA retirement fund into fidelity, my daughters account is in fidelity. I did not want to have so many accounts floating around in so many places so I moved my Dividend Roots Portfolio over and now have everything in one place.

I also entered a challenge with a friend of mine to buy in cash the week of the year equivalent of V (Visa). Currently this is 3 weeks into the year and we have not missed a week yet. Sweet. But I feel for goal tracking or participating in challenges making it spicy is excellent way to spruce up investing overall. If you want to take a more active approach. Some say they check their accounts once a month… but me personally I have to look at least every hour mostly because I enjoy seeing my progress. My portfolio is something I built up from nothing without having any knowledge and I am excited to just admire my work constantly.

It is 2024, and we are still early enough in the year that we can finish setting up goals and plans for the rest of the year. Just because 2023 ended it does not mean we are done nourishing our roots. This is more than a concept. As investors the more we nourish out portfolio, the more we support our portfolio the bigger and more bountiful the tree of our future becomes.

This week coming up, take some time and refresh you goals that you set for yourself double check! Make sure they are attainable, but its ok because if you shoot for the moon and miss.. you will land amongst the stars.

I guess a good way to wrap this newsletter up for this week. Reset but stay consistent… remember consistency is King.

You can always reach out to me through email ([email protected]) or through X or Twitter @DividendRoots… I don’t know what to call it…

Nourish Your Roots.

Overall Comments: I am going to do a portfolio update at the end of the month instead of the week, too many little snapshots sometimes misses the bigger picture 🙂

X HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

This section is dedicated to a X member who offers meaningful, thought provoking finance, educational, content while maintaining a positive attitude and supporting members of the community. I suggest giving them a follow and checking them out

X Profile Spotlight :

The spotlight for this week is awarded to @dividenddad1. This individual offers relatable content sharing little snippets of his day to day activities while providing solid finance content and updates of his portfolio. He also provides overall great finance information that sure gives me motivation and I know it will benefit you too!

I reached out to Dividend Dad and asked him about his goals for 2024. He responded with

“My 2024 investment goals would be to keep diversifying and expanding my portfolio. Always looking for opportunities to grow/expand myself and my portfolio.”

Personally what I like about his response is its simplicity. Sometimes it can hinder our goal tracking if there are too many sections and little objectives. Straight to the point with a clear direction. Going forward I would like of you to think about , and I will as well.. how to simplify goal tracking and progression we set for ourselves over the course of the year.
