Consistency is King.

 ISSUE #3

Consistency is King.

I say this, and strongly believe that it is the core essence behind ensuring that you reach the goals you design. Without consistency you run the risk of allowing the temptation to slack off, become lethargic, cut corners and many other detrimental behaviors that can suck away from allowing you to achieve your goals. I use these vivid words to really drive home how much of a negative impact lack of consistency can have.

Having a consistent approach helps turn your actions into habits. This in my opinion is the best case scenario. If you are trying to add a new activity or action to reach a goal, creating a new habit out of the action is the best way to maintain consistency. Looking back at last weeks newsletter, I talk about how I would set up small milestones for myself when learning to juggle. I added this to my schedule and practiced consistently everyday, to the point where if I did not practice then I felt like I was forgetting something.

If you are reading this newsletter you are most likely an investor in some capacity. Myself, I am a dividend growth and income investor. Consistency is absolutely king in this style of investing. The ability to generate a compounding snowball of dividends that offers consistency growing income are part of my goals, therefore like clockwork once a week minimum I make a contribution to my dividend portfolio. Using the newly acquired stocks, when their dividend payments are deposited into my account I take the funds and immediately reinvest those into my portfolio as well, consistently growing my dividend income snowball.

But, consistency can be used in many other parts of our lives. Whether we focus on health, wealth or learning a new skill, consistently taking positive approaches will help accomplish anything you set out to do. This week I implore you to take a moment and think about what new activities or actions you have taken in your life that you consistently do that have become a habit, and if this habit is having a positive or negative impact on you reaching your goals.

It is easy to forget that we can also consistently develop bad habits. Be mindful of what is beneficial or not in your life. Sometimes its good to reassess every so often and see if you need to trim something out of your life. Maybe, a new activity or habit is toxic, or pulling you away from the course to reach your goals.

Remember Consistency is King. I will definitely be circling back to this topic in the future.

This week I also asked the Dividend Investing and Finance Community what they thought on some topics.. here are the results of these poll questions below!

Seems like a majority went with ETfs for there preferred “Fund” Investments

Consistency is the highest achiever here, while I will be honest I was not expecting “Hardly Important” to yield any votes. This goes to show everyone is different! What a wonderful community!

Interesting responses to these while they do appear to be predictable in some sense there are a few choices that really show the diversity in the community of investors int he X or Twitter space.
